Airless spray tips are essential to the proper operation of an airless spray system. They set a spray pattern, control the flow of material being sprayed and will control how hard the pump must work.

It is important to remember that the orifice size, in combination with fan-width size, determines the spray characteristics of the tip.

How to determine tip size, an example:

#5 = 1/2 fan width
or 2 x 5 = 10 inch fan

Examples

The larger the orifice with the same fan width, the greater the amount of paint applies to the same area.

On the other hand, if there is a larger fan width with the same orifice, it means the same amount of
material is being applied over a greater area. The result is less paint applied per square inch.
